Dating to the late 18th century and signed "Kimbell, Dean St, London" on the draw tube, this visually impressive library telescope was made by Isaac Kimbell, who is recorded as working at 21 Dean Street, Fetter Lane, London from 1775 to 1804.

A substantial refractor telescope, measuring 35" closed and extending to 45" fully drawn, it has a tapered mahogany barrel which is in good condition, with only a couple of minor shrinkage cracks, (see photos) and a dent free brass draw tube.

It offers a clear focused image and comes complete with its brass end cap to protect the 50mm objective lens when not in use. Ideal for use in observing both the night sky as well as day time panoramas, it also has an additional screw on eyepiece containing a dark sun filter for viewing solar activity.

Mounted on a separate brass stand which is 18" in height, it's a substantial instrument with the telescope and stand having a collective weight of just over 4kg, so it will have to be sent by courier, therefore international buyers need to contact me for shipping costs.
